Save the El Hogar Building

The El Hogar Filipino Building (El Hogar), located along Escolta Street in the Binondo district and facing the Pasig River, is a skyscraper built in Manila, Philippines in 1914. El Hogar was designed in the Beaux-Arts style and exemplifies elements of Neoclassical and Renaissance architecture. Its beauty is paralleled only by its strength, which has withstood wars, earthquakes and other calamities.

 

Decades have passed and now, more than ever, the value of El Hogar is more apparent. Its architecture is a preview and a strong reminder of what Manila was like from over a hundred years ago, with its unique design, construction techniques, and materials. Although the El Hogar Filipino Building perdures through the test of time and nature, it remains endangered. If we continue to do nothing, it will collapse under the calamity of its own people.

The UP Architecture Forum implores the Filipino people to join in the cause to protect and preserve our built heritage. El Hogar has been part of our past; let it be also a part of our future.

Jimboy Salazar: Dating Mahal ni Mahal Pumanaw Na!

Sumakabilang buhay na po si Jimboy Salazar ang dating That's Entertainment star and ex-boypren ng midget comedienne na si Mahal.

Dahil sa ilang beses na pagpapagamot, naubos na lahat ng naipon ng aktor noon sa mga pagtatanghal. May chronic illness ang aktor na at sa huli halos buto't balat na ito ng magkaroon ng bout with pneumonia.

Mas naging kontrobersiyal pa ang paghihiwalay nila noon ni Mahal dahil umamin si Jimboy na isa siyang homosexual at may boypren na si John Danan, na isa ring comedy bar host at singer. Pero hindi natuloy ang kasal ng dalawa, nag hiwalay din si Jimboy at John.

Si Mahal naman mabilis din nakapag-move on at nakahanap ng mas batang boypren na si Jimmy Navarro, 34-anyos, biyudo, na may isang anak.

Lola na Contortionist Balik-Eskwela

Kung hindi nyo alam ang ibig sabihin ng contortionist ay mag balik eskwela na po tayo. At least si lola may effort ipakita ang talents nya sa social media.

Siya po si Lola Librada Gemal isang Grade 6 student sa Tisa Elementary School sa Cebu, and she's 79 years old. All her classmates just love granny! And lola still wants to be a nurse someday!

Kaso naman, sana naman yung photographer ng news bureau napaka-unflattering ng angle ng photo, sana kinunan nya si lola ng magandang anggulo yun bang mas may respeto sa subject :( Wasak!

Pogi Alerts! Poging Baliw Roams Ortigas

Making the social media rounds of Pogi Alerts: a poging pulubi or hot baliw has been spotted bumming cigarettes from call center agents, taking a shower shirtless at an Ortigas fountain, sitting at coffee shops reading the daily. This poging pulubi is sosyal and choosy, he does not accept money below P50 pesos. Bawal ang barya. Well looking good does cost money! Pero naman si kuya ay heartbroken raw kaya pagala-gala, that thing called tadhana ang peg along Emerald Avenue Ortigas.

Unless this is some kind of improv theater exercise, this guy is totally in character and damn approachable for a taong grasa. He may or may not answer your questions, but he won't claw your eyes out. He is deemed a harmless lost soul or possibly schizophrenic or mentally ill. I hope his relatives come and get him off the streets and get him the help he needs.

LPG Tank Modus: Fire Safety Inspection Kuno ng LPG Hose

Hi guys! Morning! This just happened! This guy knocked to our door, and said he is going to check if we have safety devices on our LPG tank to avoid fire, and how many people lives in that house, and he claims that they're company is in partnership with the FIRE DEPT.

So my mother in law let him in, thinking that he's from the gov't, at first he was acting like inspecting, until he starts negotiating about "their safety fire prevention products", and when he asked for my mother in law's valid ID and she left him there alone, he punctured our hose and told her that we have a leak, and told her to buy the hose that he's selling, at that point i called my husband coz my mother-in- law was asking us if she should buy it?

So we talked to him asked him the name of his company, he could barely say it coz we cant understand him when he told us what, and if we could take a picture of his products to inquire first if it is safe, and we'll get his number so that we'll just call him if we'll get it, he then looked alert and kept his safety lock products in his bag, and said he would just let my mom in law decide, and he still kept on insisting we buy the hose, then we told him that he we would ask first and we'll just go to their office that he said was located at Bulwang but he can't manage to give the address, and he did leave in such a hurry, when we checked our hose there's a hole already. We think that his target are senior citizens. Please be careful guys! Inform your oldies about these people or whoever it is that stays at home.

Chris Brown Stopped from Leaving Manila Philippines Because of No-Show at Iglesia Ni Cristo New Year's Eve Party

Justice Secretary Leila de Lima has issued a lookout bulletin order (LBO) against the 26-year-old R&B singer Chris Brown.

Chris Brown is in the country for his solo concert at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. According to GMA News:

The LBO stemmed from a letter from Glicerio Santos IV, chief legal counsel of Iglesia Ni Cristo and chief operating officer of the Maligaya Development Corp. (MDC) requesting assistance from the Department of Justice "for the successful prosecution of the criminal complaint which MDC is lodging."

The MDC wanted Brown, who is Christopher Maurice Brown in real life, charged with estafa over his failure to appear in the INC's New Year's event concert on December 31 last year at the Philippine Arena.
