Solicitor General Frank Chavez Dead at 66

Solicitor General Frank Chavez: a good bit of hat swagger by a good man

 Solicitor General Frank Chavez died of a stroke and complications of blood cancer last Wednesday night at Medical City in Pasig. The former Solicitor General has been battling lymphoma since 2009. He was 66.



His body was cremated Thursday morning and his wake will be at the Santuario de San Antonio Parish in Forbes Park in Makati. He will be buried on Sunday at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Chavez was a human rights lawyer during the Marcos era and he served as Solicitor General from 1987 to 1992 under the late President Corazon Aquino. He was nominated to succeed ousted Chief Justice Renato Corona after the Corona trial but declined and instead asked the Supreme Court to order Congress to strictly follow a six-month rotation scheme.



Frank Chavez was born on February 6, 1947 in Sagay, Negros Occidental. He took up law at the University of the Philippines and passed the Bar in 1972. He was a founding partner of the Chavez Laureta & Associates law firm.

He leaves behind a wife and his 3 grown-up children - Katrina, a dentist; Stephanie like him a lawyer and Ingrid the youngest works in the fashion industry.

Jeane Napoles is an unemployed 23 year old FIDM (Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising) grad.

The daughter of the controversial scandal-plagued Janet Lim-Napoles, her scandals go as far back as the Fertilizer fund scam of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, and now its the Pork Barrel scam and FAKE NGOs. These NGOs were designed to help the poor pero instead these people and their cohorts amassed P10 Billion pesos.

Janet Napoles has a lot of explaining to do, the family insists that their wealth is not ill-gotten and is the result of hardwork and legitimate business. Looking at their daughter's lifestyle, a lot of red flags here possibly tax evasion.

Napoles claims their wealth comes from properties such as a P7-million hotel in Disneyland in Los Angeles, California.
