I would like to share a helpful and informative website promoting awareness for Filipinos living with abdominal conditions that require them to live with colostomy bags or to have a stoma in place. These are pouching systems or holes place in the abdomen area to collect waste from the body (in place of orifices that have been damaged by disease).
Colostomy Friends of the Philippines is a blog for Pinoy ostomates. Through experiences of members of this support group, one can exchange information on how to better manage their pouch bags, how to deal with Stoma Skin Irritation, irrigation techniques, etc.

Why do Filipinos carry Umbrellas even when it’s Sunny outside?
Well, it’s hot to begin with and Pinoys love the shade. Most pinays don’t want their skins to get any darker. From a twisted cultural perspective, fair-skin and light colored skin is preferred or considered a marker of beauty. Hence, the umbrellas to shield the richly Gluthathione-fed skin of Pinays.
Some though, simply don’t want to get sunburned or suffer from heatstroke.

Specialized audio equipment used in professional and studio recordings, field and sound recordings, mixing (digital and analog) can be tough to find in Manila. You have to go to some specialty shops in Makati. Shotgun Microphone, mic stands, directional mic, microphone poles, boom mic kit, windscreen, cable kits, microphone windsocks, microphone fur, wind jammers, studio pop filters, velcro ties, and grilles; Other audio equipment which includes mixers, mixing consoles, amplifiers, turntables and recording units can be found in audio shops in Makati Cinema Square (some are at the basement level). Where to learn Capoeira Angola in Manila, Philippines?
Most of us would have heard of Capoeria in the realm of Mixed Martial Arts. But Capoeria is not just a sport, but its roots are more cultural, as much as it is rooted sport, the art of dance is also at its heart.
If you are interested in learning Capoeira Angola which is considered the more traditional form of Capoeira. There is a group in the Philippines that features the music, movements and roda of Capoeira Angola. The initiative hopes to provide the opportunity for the exchange of information, ideas and experiences, that eventually grows and develops into an official and formal group of Capoeira Angola in Manila.
Anybody interested in taking part is welcome to join on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, 7:30-9:00 at the Magdalena Park Community Hall, Magallanes Village, Makati City. Sessions are open to adults and youth of all ages & levels. What to bring: a bottle of water, comfortable shoes, long pants and a short-sleeved shirt that can be tucked in.

Where to Research for Investigatory Science Projects or Thesis in the Philippines?
If you're in high school or in college in the Philippines, the whole researching for a topic on a scientific investigatory project is not far from your list. Students usually need to accomplish a thesis in order to graduate or complete a grade.
How you plan to research for the possible topics would depend on the scope provided by your teacher or thesis adviser. Some teachers would prefer something with a unique spin on it, they would be thrilled if its interesting enough to qualify in any national or international science tilt. But this would require shelling out some money to have someone test your product for an independent verification that will go into your paper. For example, hiring a chemist to test certain components of your material- whether it is effective or viable for production; Hiring a microbiologist or food technician to analyze your samples and cross check your data whether your findings are correct. These lab tests add credibility to your research, the effort takes it a step further than from just being a mere student project. But you don't really need to do this- only if you want to be the exceptional nerd in class :p
If you want to go beyond the usual and boring investigatory projects that involves making yams, jams, paper or soap out of some fruit or leaves, I would like to suggest doing some legwork and going out of your comfort zone to do research in science facilities and local libraries. You may also try digging further into online science catalogs for abstracts.

After doing your research, decide on a material or a species of plant or animal you think is abundant, endemic or accessible enough for you to study. If its growing in your backyard then its a good start.
Then research further into the potential of this plant, animal or method- the common uses for it; the possible uses for it; how to extract fluids, oils or whatever from it. How can the community living around this type of species benefit from it? Without driving the species to extinction, of course.
