Metro Manila Film Festival Philippines Copies Tribeca Film Festival Logo for Social Media Campaign

Like I said, the blatant gaya-gaya puto maya case of "Design and Idea theft" is going around social media, what's alarming is that both cases of intellectual property theft in the Philippines are both started by government offices. Was this an intentional, brazen bit of idea theft?

Here's the second social media case:

The Metro Manila Film Festival 2015 was quick to erase their tracks on their social media campaign blunder as a hawk-eyed film reviewer quickly spotted their typeface attempt

Epic fail pa rin kasi a FilmPoliceReviews.com was able to screen cap the Metro Manila Film Festival's online attempt na mag-neknok ng Tribeca NYC filmfest logo.

And matapang si kuya, parang si Heneral Luna lang ang peg at good for him for calling out MMFF 2015 on that!

The Metro Manila Film Festival Philippines responded by taking
their site down for a while.

Bakit Naka Upo Lang si Apolinario Mabini sa Buong Pelikula ng Heneral Luna?

Just to translate -  in one screening of the Pinoy movie "Heneral Luna," a girl walking out the cinema with her boyfriend wondered out loud - "How come Apolinario Mabini was sitting all the time?"

Okay, let's just say the girl didn't grow up in the Philippines or she was probably spaced out during her Aralin Panlipunan class during her whole grade school years... so the whole thing is just sad and says a lot about the sorry state of our education system in the Philippines.

Here's quick historical tidbit:

Apolinario Mabini was a Filipino revolutionary leader who fought for the independence of the country. Being a cripple, didn't stop this man from being tenacious, he was dubbed the "Brains of the Revolution."

Mabini was struck by polio in 1895, and the disease gradually incapacitated him until January 1896, when he finally lost the use of both his lower limbs.

Iza Calzado in new movie with Mark Dacascos, Cynthia Rothrock, Tia Carrere and Casper Van Dien

Iza Calzado is in a new movie directed by Mark Dacascos and features kick-ass action stars Cynthia Rothrock, Tia Carrere and Casper Van Dien

Mark Dacascos star of Crying Freeman and Brotherhood of the Wolf. He is also the host of Iron Chef America plus notable TV appearances in Hawaii Five-O and Dancing with the Stars. Mark Dacascos is in town along with other action movie stars - Cynthia Rothrock, Tia Carrere, Casper Van Dien - to film the Russian produced action flick Showdown in Manila. They added local talents in their roster such as Kapamilya actress Iza Calzado and indie siren Althea Vega.

Casper Van Dien looks awesome for his age here, he was the heroic lead in the alien bug slasher movie Starship Troopers. After Hollywood, he eventually married into royalty with Princess Elizabeth of Yugoslavia. He has gone back into movies filming doing action movies.

The Showdown in Manila cast in Quiapo, the heart of downtown Manila for its first week of shooting.

Lotsa guns and mayhem, Showdown in Manila looks exciting!
