The Suites Fort Bonifacio Global City Collapses Two Workers Dead, 12 Injured

Two construction workers died and 11 others were injured after a floor of The Suites Condominium which is under construction at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig collapsed under the weight of freshly poured cement. The incident happened at about 8:10 a.m Wednesday morning.



Taguig Police chief Senior Superintendent Arthur Felix Asis said the injured workers suffered abrasions and fractures on their hands. They were rushed to the nearby St. Luke's Global hospital for emergency treatment.

The fatalities were identified as Renato dela Cruz and Ruben Raqraquiam. Both were pinned down by concrete slabs.

The injured workers were identified as Sandy Vargas, Jaymar Carberta, Regan Labmutin, Larry Magguray, Wendil Behim, Aldrin Gahuman, Roberto Lorca, Darwin Avara, Bernard Tugade, Jonathan Agoso, Delinger Abara.

Search and rescue operations at the construction were terminated at around 1:45 p.m.

The Suites condominium building is located at the corner of 5th Avenue and 28th Street.





 
According to the Manila Bulletin, the Bureau of Fire Protection of Taguig City said workers of the said project are now all accounted for. Representatives of the Department of Labor and Employment and the building inspectors of the Taguig City government will conduct separate investigations to determine the liability of the contractors.

FBDC has released a statement on the matter:

“We are one in grief and prayers with the families of the fatalities. We will make sure that their families receive the necessary assistance. As to the injured, every help for them to fully recover will be extended. At the same time, we are fully cooperating with authorities who are investigating the accident.”
